How can the family hold it all together and even help heal our broken society?

How can education be more well rounded and more stable and fulfilling… even calming?

There seem to be so many trade-offs regarding what children are learning at public schools, from curriculum, teachers and fellow students.

Homeschooling families and those that utilize private schools also often struggle to bring vibrance and whole person grounding to each person in the family.

How can we balance, supplement or replace current educational options to make life work better before, during and after formal education?

Shouldn’t there be an organization that helps the family engage with other family units to improve the family? Can the Family Academy help get your family to a better place?

What are we reaching for as a family unit? What is the ideal? I’m sure you’ve heard that it will be different for everyone. Still there ought to be some solution that helps us get there, to move from where we are “Point A” to where we want to be “Point B” without a one size fits all recipe. Finding fulfillment in your family’s journey is our pursuit. We think we can help you navigate, give us a try.

About Us

From Martha and Allen’s current backgrounds as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we believe that the family is the core unit of society. We are also aware that most religious traditions share in this postulate as well as many non-religious families. As we outsource more and more, and as a result of large programs (schools, governments, businesses) and individualizing elements of society (devices, laws, specialists and therapists), the family has been shifted to a lower tier of importance in society in general. The purpose of the Family Academy is to push the criticality of the family to the forefront of societal organization and importance.

The Family Academy will utilize many of the same principles as other J&A organizations and be helped thereby. Families will have the freedom to explore topics that are of importance to themselves. For example, if nutrition needs to be addressed, there are resources available to families from social entrepreneurs to find solutions that work for the family and groups of families.

The J&A “groups of four” will also play a significant role in the Family Academy. Families will be organized into groups of four creating a network of support and advice regarding what it means to be a family unit and to work together in the different familial roles.

For example, the group could decide that once a week, one family will prepare a meal for all four families. The result would provide each family with three evenings where they could focus their energies towards other important family matters and introduce variety into meal planning and preparation.
